Register now! Symposium Female Resistance in Silence and Voice

Gepubliceerd op 9 september 2025 om 18:00

What does resistance sound like when it begins in silence? And how does that silence later find a voice? During the symposium Female Resistance in Silence and Voice, we will share the stories of Caribbean foremothers. Women who, through their strength and choices, have left their mark on Dutch history.

The program (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM) consists of lectures, panel discussions, poetry, and spoken word. Fausia S. Abdul will open with a lecture entitled "The Three Faces of Female Resistance," followed by the project "Our HERitage," which focuses on 50 historical portraits of Caribbean women. There will also be poetry in the ancient language of Gueni, a panel discussion on judicial resistance, and interactive workshops with CBG researcher Martine Zoeteman. The symposium will conclude with book reviews, spoken word, and drinks.

Moderator: Janice Deul.
