Afro-Caribbean artist David Paulus invites you to PAGA TERA, a unique fashion show that celebrates the profound connection between identity, culture, tradition, and heritage. This show is being created in collaboration with Our HERitage, an initiative that breaks down stereotypes by visualizing the diversity and voices of Caribbean women throughout history and connecting them to the present. It also empowers individuals to discover their cultural heritage and understand their own identity. You'll find Our HERitage next to the bar for more information about women in Caribbean history and our special package, including how we can help you conduct your own genealogical research, place your data in historical context, and/or reconstruct old photos of your ancestors. You'll also get the chance to share your voice (and that of your ancestor!) on a media platform!

Inspired by his ancestors and their rich history, David Paulus explores Afro-Caribbean Creole practices in Curaçao in this show. PAGA TERA,* an ancient tradition of pouring liquor on the ground as a tribute to the spirits, reflects the connection between past and present, a common thread in the garments that will grace the catwalk.

Come and experience PAGA TERA, where fashion and art converge in a powerful and inspiring celebration of identity and tradition.

*The Paga Tera system in Curaçao was a form of debt bondage (a "loan system") in which workers, often former slaves, rented land from plantation owners and were required to pay for it with a portion of their harvest or labor. This system kept many in poverty and dependency. It is similar to the leasehold system, Pagamentu di Tera.
