To ensure the quality of our work and to do justice to the gender perspective, but also to the many ethnicities, migratory flows and regions that come to the fore in the portraits of the ancestors in this project, our review board consists of a group of academics with specialisations that do justice to the gender history & ethno- and geodiversity that makes Our HERiture so special. 

Prof. dr. Rose Mary Allen

University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez

Cultural anthropologist of Curaçao and first black female extraordinary professor at the University of Curaçao. She specialises in the social and cultural history of the Caribbean region, with a particular focus on the slavery past and the African diaspora. Prof. Dr. Rose Mary Allen looks at these topics through a gender lens and is co-editor of the new Handbook of Gender Studies in the Dutch Caribbean.


Dr. Martine Zoeteman - van Pelt

Central Office for Genealogy (CBG)

Historian and genealogist at the Central Bureau of Genealogy (CBG) and specialised in family history and migration in the Netherlands and the Caribbean. It focuses on the accessibility of archives and the connection of personal stories to broader historical contexts, with a focus on inclusiveness. Dr. Martine Zoeteman has a strong personal affinity with underexposed women's stories from history.


Dr. Raymond Jessurun en zijn onderzoeksteam

University of Sint Maarten

A human rights defender and research coordinator at the University of Sint Maarten who focuses on the social impact of historical and current issues, such as the COVIDCAS research. He is committed to equal rights and the preservation of heritage as a connecting factor between generations. Together with his team, he is committed to promoting Kingdom relations and to keeping the Caribbean on the research agenda.
