Mini Workshop: Unlocking Slavery registers

At the last moment Pieter Bol jumped in for us with his knowledge and time. Pieter is an experienced genealogist and historian, associated with the Surinamese Genealogy Foundation. His expertise was a huge addition to the session, especially given the theme of the slavery registers in which the participants studied.

With his profound knowledge of Surinamese history and pedigree research, but also the difference with the various Caribbean islands in this field, Pieter guided the six participants step by step through the complex world of slavery registers. He shared valuable tips and insights on how to look for your ancestor in this context and carefully document. This small-scale workshop gave a lot of opportunity to ask questions and to go into more topics. With new energy and ideas, the last participants will continue their genealogical research as part of Our Heritage.

Thanks to Pieter's efforts, the refresher course was a success. With his enthusiasm and dedication to support strangers where necessary, we are incredibly pleased with his contribution.
