Our HERITAGE was invited by the Surinamese Genealogy Foundation to attend a meeting, on Friday 11 October 2024, at the CBG within the National Archives in The Hague.
At this meeting, participants of Our Heritage as well as others who had an interest could participate and attend the workshop that taught how (online) genealogical research can be done about Suriname. It was an informative afternoon and participants actively participated in the discussions. There was also an American couple present, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who explained how to use Family Search (which was founded by the Mormon Church and is maintained by volunteers).
The meeting also gave useful tips for doing genealogical research on the Caribbean islands, although it was mainly about Suriname. The workshop has contributed positively to the further maternal examinations with our participants! Some of them have even recovered their line in one go.
It was a successful afternoon and for those who want more information about genealogical research can contact the Surinamese Genealogy Foundation or visit the CBG.
