In the edition of 16 November 2024 of the Antilliaans Dagblad, Fausia S. Abdul, Rashid Dossett and Fariel Soeleiman appeared. Oh, yeah. All three team members experiment what makes Our Heritage important to them. All three have a different Caribbean background in common and they are united on making the Caribbean diversity in Dutch society more relevant. The publication in the Antilliaans Dagblad was a big step for Our Heritage and we hope that more media attention will be paid to the Caribbean ethnic diversity of the Netherlands.
Fausia, who holds multiple master's degrees, stated that her main interest in OurHERitage was in demonstrating how Caribbean women lived in colonial times and wants to emphasise the power of these Caribbean ancestors, recognising a shared history and cohesion between the Caribbean and Dutch society in the Netherlands.
Rashid Dossett, anthropologist and sociologist from Curaçao, indicated that there was a 'knowledge gap' about the Caribbean history and community in the Netherlands that Our HERitage would contribute to closing.
Fariel Soeleiman, who wants to contribute to the artistic industry of her home country in the future, indicated that she noticed that there is an urge in Suriname to focus on European history, especially Dutch culture. She considers this to be at the expense of the cultural and historical diversity of Suriname.
