A warm farewell and a radiant welcome

Change is part of growth, and at Our HERmitage we are opening 2025 with a fresh look, new faces and gratitude for those who have brought us where we are today. As we progress at full speed, we also say goodbye to team members who are forging new paths, but not without first acknowledging them.

Laurie and Sjaïesta: grateful for their contribution, proud of their next steps

Laurie Wissink and Sjaïesta Nanhekhan have made a great contribution to Our Heritage. Their expertise, dedication and passion have helped the project move forward. Laurie, who specialised in archival research and contract work, helped with historical contextualisation. Now she continues her work at Collectie Overijssel, where she makes heritage accessible to new target groups and goes to Edinburgh at the end of this spring. Shaiesta, with a background in public administration and inclusive policymaking, combined research, and practice. In 2025, she started her PhD in part-time alongside her work at Leyden Academy. Both remain active as supporters and will probably meet you as contributors to our events.

We are extremely grateful to them and wish them every success in these next steps!

New faces, new energy

With a new phase, new people will also come who help Our Heritage grow. We are happy to welcome Mark Maat as a social professional and coach. He plays an essential role in guiding participants who encounter emotional or traumatic stories during the completion of their portraits. His expertise helps to ensure that these processes are conducted with care and attention.

In addition, strengthen Diantha Vliet and Ryaen La Rose our team. Diantha brings her extensive research experience and focus on representation and identity—two core values that are essential to the project. Ryaen, our new communication assistant, helps spread Our Heritage's stories more broadly and increase our impact.

Looking ahead: a promising year!

With this fresh energy we continue our work on the historical portraits of fifty diverse women and their stories. 2025 promises to be a year of growth, impact, and valuable insights. Keep an eye on our website for the series of events planned this year. We need all of you to give a new perspective on our heritage and make women's voices heard in their diversity! evacuation
